Privacy Policy

Vale processes information you provide, including your name, email address, profile handle, bio, optional profile location and photo, community posts, comments, prayers, reports, and support requests. Vale also processes reading preferences, saved studies, study progress, listening and reading activity, notification preferences and time zone, and purchase-access records when you use those features.

Community profiles, posts, comments, prayers, and studies you choose to publish are visible to other signed-in members. Do not publish information you want to keep private.

Your optional onboarding choices may include a faith goal and what you currently need, such as peace, Scripture, consistency, or direction. These choices can reveal religious or philosophical beliefs. Vale saves and uses this starting point only after you affirmatively choose to use it. You may continue without saving it and may erase it later in Settings.

Private journal entries, private reflections, daily check-ins, notes, and journal attachments are encrypted on your device and are not automatically uploaded by Vale. Reading history and some preferences may also remain on your device. If you export or share content, you choose where that copy goes; anyone with access to an exported backup may be able to read it.

Vale uses information to create and secure accounts; personalize reading and listening; provide community, moderation, notifications, purchases, support, and account deletion; maintain progress across sessions; prevent abuse; diagnose failures; measure feature reliability and use; and comply with legal obligations. Vale does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Apple processes App Store payments. Vale uses RevenueCat to verify subscription status and receives the Vale account identifier, product identifier, subscription status, expiration information, and purchase history needed to provide and restore Vale+ access. Vale does not receive your full payment-card details.

Usage analytics and crash diagnostics are separate optional choices and are off by default. If you enable analytics, Vale records limited events such as app and screen opens, onboarding and reading milestones, content and audio activity, community actions, and purchase-flow status. If you separately enable crash diagnostics, Vale and Sentry process redacted failure, app, and device information such as platform, app version, device model, operating-system version, and device type.

Private prayer, journal, note, check-in, reflection, faith-choice, and current-need text is excluded from analytics and diagnostics. You can turn either choice off in Settings. Turning off analytics stops collection and clears queued analytics and its local app identifier.

Vale uses Supabase for accounts, databases, storage, and server functions; RevenueCat for subscription verification; Sentry for optional filtered reliability diagnostics; and Expo, Apple, Google, and platform notification services for push delivery and sign-in where selected. External media hosts receive network requests when you stream their recordings. Vale may disclose information when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or complete a corporate transaction, subject to applicable safeguards.

Account, profile, preference, community, progress, and purchase-access records are generally retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the feature. Optional analytics events are scheduled for deletion within 90 days. Vale may retain information longer where reasonably required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or enforcing its terms.

Account deletion removes account-linked database records, uploaded media, and push tokens. Restricted deletion-recovery records, including the account identifier, receipt hash, provider-revocation time, and completion status, may be retained for up to 30 days so interrupted deletion can be checked and retried, then automatically deleted. Copies you exported, shared with others, or stored in backups you control must be removed separately.

You can edit profile and notification settings, decline photo and notification permissions, turn optional analytics and diagnostics on or off, erase a saved personal starting point, erase local device data, export supported local data, and delete your account inside Settings. Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, deletion, portability, withdrawal of consent, or an appeal of a denied privacy request. Email support@joinvale.app. Vale may verify your identity before completing a request.

Vale is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. Vale does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact support@joinvale.app so Vale can investigate and delete it.

Vale uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to reduce risk, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Vale may update this policy as its practices change. Material changes will be presented through the app or another appropriate notice before they take effect when required.
